I am a creature of habit and routine. I have lived both ways (by a schedule and without), and honestly by having a routine has reduced my depression. When you do not have a have a routine or schedule, I feel like I’m not balanced. I start my mornings M-F at 7am, get dressed, go to work, lunch (home to let my dogs out), return to work until 5pm, go home and change clothes and head to the gym. After the gym, I eat a small dinner and then my husband and I take our dogs for a evening drive as we discuss about our day. By the time we get home, it’s time to shower and get ready for bed.
This routine has helped me fight depression as well as giving myself, and my partner time within the day. My kids are older, and I use to have their time while making dinner. This balanced everyone out, and kept the week running smoothly. Honestly, giving your family that time to communicate and listen really makes a difference as a family. I want to teach my kids that we are required to work hard, but always make time for your family.
