New Morning Routine for 2023…

When living with a chronic illness, it is easy to get discouraged especially when your prone to getting sick. Over the years, I have found myself reverting back to depression when life didn’t go smoothly. It wasn’t until the end of 2022, when I decided to try a new concept that I heard from a podcast from Mel Robbins. It was called the “high five” concept and if you haven’t heard about it, I highly consider you to listen about this concept.

It all starts with your daily routine. On a good day, I have a normal morning routine that I do when getting ready for work. They consist of listening to several podcast while getting ready. These podcast are motivational, positive, and has really helped me turn my once depressed life ti something meaningful.

The “high five” concept is looking in the mirror and giving yourself a high five. The first time I tried this, I was sick in bed that day. I looked at myself in the mirror and after I gave myself a high five, and I just started crying. The emotions of not feeling worthy of a high five consumed my body, but I did it.

I added to the “high five” concept, by saying one positive thing about myself in the morning. It is usually, “Your a beautiful and strong badass, who can withstand anything life throws your way today! You got this, girl!” Let me tell you something, it has changed my life on my way of thinking.

Even when I’m sick and cannot go to work, I say that morning ritual, and I do not get depressed. I see it as a day, my body really needed in order to recover and regain its strength. I do not feel bad, for missing because I have started training my mind to see the positive in my mornings. I am only in my first month in with this routine, but I can honestly see a difference.
