I have always lived with pain due to my Chiari malformation. I have 5mm of my brain protruding out of the tonsil, causing excruciating head and neck pain. As one who has been diagnosed at 17, and now 43. … I have been to multiple doctors and to multiple hospitals. (Scott & White, MC Anderson)
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! It wasn’t until 2019, my neurologist prescribed me Amovig for my pain. Game changer, and believe me I have been a lab rat for many years for doctors. I’m learning about Chiari, the same time my doctor is. I work along side my doctor to help them better understand Chiari. Chiari, produces a lot of other symptoms in our body. Chronic ITP, Fibromyalgia, Hypoglycemic, Anxiety, Depression, and scoliosis. Not to mention, I suffer from OCD and A.D.D. as well.
I started out on 6 different types of medication, helping my symptoms. However, medication can make you feel just as crappy as you normally feel. Don’t get me started on side effects, because I have been battling weight gain from these medication for many years. Never fails, I gain 20 pounds, and then I lose it. However, the gym has allowed me to control my weight problems, and manage a lot of my problems. I am down to one medication and one injection!! (Happy Dance)
I live a red meat and diary free life. I do not eat red meat, because it makes my body inflamed. Something in meat triggers a fibromyalgia flare, and I had to let go of it. (I love a good steak 😭) Same with diary, cheese or milk would trigger a flare up. Since it took me years to realize this, I wished I learned much sooner. I missed out on a lot of my kids life because I had a bad flare up. I can honestly say, not eating meat and diary has improved my way of life drastically.
I’m still learning the does, and don’t of Chiari Malformation. Take life, one day at a time.
